Beaches in Spetses

Spetses gets a fair three out of five for beaches, and the gap between reputation and reality catches some people out. This is a low pine dome ringed largely by small pebble coves, so if your mental picture is a broad sandy resort, adjust it now. Agioi Anargyroi is the main exception and the closest thing to a proper beach, organised and popular in consequence. Agia Paraskevi nearby is pretty and pine-backed, Zogeria is the quietest and the one worth the trip round, and Kaiki is the town beach, convenient and busy with a younger crowd. Getting to the good ones means a scooter, a bicycle on the flat coast road, or a water taxi, and the water taxi fares mount up over a week. In August the organised coves fill and the harbour prices reflect the yachts moored in front of them.
